The DHCPv6 client (dhcp6c) as used in the dhcpv6 project through 2011-07-25 allows remote DHCP servers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a hostname obtained from a DHCP message.
The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component.
