HTML injection attack is closely related to Cross-site Scripting (XSS). HTML injection uses HTML to deface the page. XSS, as the name implies, injects JavaScript into the page. Both attacks exploit insufficient validation of user input.
The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment.
The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.
