CVE-2024-23913

Description

Use of Out-of-range Pointer Offset vulnerability in Merge DICOM Toolkit C/C++ on Windows. When deprecated MC_XML_To_Message() function is used to read a malformed DICOM XML file, it might result in memory access violation.

Remediation

Solution:

  • The issue is resolved in Merge DICOM Toolkit 5.18.0 release.

Workaround:

  • As a temporary solution, until a patch is released, it is highly recommended to provide to the MC_XML_To_Message() function only trusted XML files.
